    Fukubukuro: Lucky Pack Outcome

    Fukubukuro : Lucky Pack Outcome

Today I received my ふくぶくろ (fukubukuro // lucky pack) in the mail.

I was happy to try my luck at the fukubukuro and I was very happy with the outcome.

I was delighted by a few of the items such as the Swimmer bento (I am in love with Swimmer yet can not afford to get a Japanese online LJ "shopping service" to buy me a few items and ship them to me) and the Swimmer bear fan (which I LOVE). The two bunnies, which are clearly visible in the first picture, are ADORABLE. One is a change purse (the pink one) and the other is a phone charm (and a big one). The large, ribboned thing the front is a pair of socks I am not too... "into". I will wear the at some point and just move on. It's a pair of socks- yay, I like socks? I recieved a bunch of hair bobbled I thought were adorable, some Rilakkuma items (a little clutch/make-up bag, wallet, and stationary). Underneath all of the stuff in the first picture is a large canvas book bag I chose- I really liked it and will use it for school. There is a quite large Hello Kitty tote- for make-up I would assume but I could use it for anything.

Other than that, there is most of my stuff in the horrible pictures below!

  • Dolly Beloved~

     Hello there, sweeties!

I think the packages we send each other look like lucky packs/ bags/ Fukubukuro, Princess Amanda. ^^ hehe.

I got a spectacular Asian ball-joint doll in the mail from my lovely friend ElleJay.
My dolly is such a tender beauty with sleepy eyes and pretty hands.
I've been admiring BJDs (ball-joint dolls) for some time now, years actually.
And now I finally have one. A big, beautiful one. Yay! I want everyone to meet her. hehe. ^_^<3~
I have yet to come up with a name for her though. Hush, don't judge me. I want it to be perfect is all.
She is a Dollzone 1/4 little lady. ^_~ Isn't she a beauty?! I love her. Enjoy:

I went to my friend's lolita birthday party this month as well. She asked me to bring my dolly since she's never seen one in person before. Here I am posing with her at the party, wearing my Rakuen Wa-lolita outfit:

I love my sisters--my real blood twin sister, and friend-sisters, Princess Manda and Lady ElleJay, and others too. ^_^ <3 These people make a world of a difference to me. They make my life so much better than they can possibly know. :'3 <3 To all of my sisters, I love you! To all followers and readers: You are beautiful! Don't forget that! ;) Truly. <3

Guess what? Our birthdays are coming up soon, no kidding! Both of ours! Young or old, we're always cute, sisters, and best of friends. Love you, Manda! Thanks for reading, everyone. :3 Keep happi~! ^_^<3~

Fukubukuro, we call them grab bags. Reduced priced bags filled with a variety of items which, in the end, add up together to total more than the cost of the bag. Usually it's a collection of clearance items, last seasons/last years left overs, or just a small pile of cute stuff they had in stock and wanted to get rid of due to a new shipment of things coming in.

In Japan, it's a little different. Fukubukuro, Lucky Bags, Mystery Bags are part of the New Year's celebration. Many stores will collect a variety of things, bag them, bring the price of the bag down to sometimes 50% off or more of the contents of the bag. These grab bags are meant to bring more people into the store and hopefully get the store more costumers for the upcoming year.

The above picture is a photograph of the contents of a Hello Kitty store in Japan's Fukubukuro. As you can tell, you get your moneys worth.

Well, during one of my random searches through the various community sales on LiveJournal (EGL and Gyaru- the two I look at the most) I found someone selling Lucky Bags (Fukubukuro)! She was selling them as "You pick a bag, I put some random cute stuff in it and ship it to you!" There were 50 dollar large bags which ranged from canvas bookbags, LAMB totes, and a Totoro purse. There were 30 dollar bags that were small totes and there were small bags for 20. My friend and I went with the biggest bags. She bought the totoro purse and I bought one of the canvas backpacks. Right now the packages are in the air, on their way to us. The sale has been over a few days and we cannot wait to see what we will get! There is a variety of things that could be in the bags: bentos, Swimmer items, Japan Disney, San-x, Hello Kitty, Sanrio in general, Make-up, false eyelashes, etc. In a few more days our Fukubukuro will be here! I really cannot wait to show you all what I have received. 8D

Lastly, I promise to come back soon and write more blogs! I will tell Emily I am back and maybe she will come and write an entry soon too.

  • Gal as applied to Social Psych xD

So today one of my professors was like "so you know how anime has big eyes and like people don't try to do that in real life..." to which, I laughed in her face. :X I was like lol, no, thats not true; "they do..." She obviously didn't agree or know what I know, but people really do do cosmetic stuff to basically get cute, big eyes, like anime eyes.

So I told her about kigurumi, double eyelid surgery, and circle lenses...And she said something like, "oh darn; i hate being proved wrong." Lol. But you know it's true. Kigurumi--not in the cute pajama costume sense, but as in the freaky fetishist sense when people wear full-on face masks with huge anime eyes and the whole get-up with like a zentai suit (full skin body suit too). Have you ever seen that? If you haven't, don't look it up. Cut your curiosity off now because I assure you that it is a freaky sight to behold.

Actually, I can add to my "argument," which wasn't really an argument, but more of a desire to inform my professor on the subject, for I didn't even mention eyelid glue and ulzzang style (which makes use of circle contact lenses to enlarge eyes, for the desire to look like one has big eyes, perfect light skin, and generally a narrow mouth). Google example for you!: http://www.contactlensxchange.com/images/geo%20magic%20circle%20CM836.jpg See? That's crazy because it's not photoshopped.

That's really trying to look like one has bigger eyes. It's funny how many an otaku, weeaboo, and fangirl, etc. desire to look like Asians, and yet many Asian girls do so much cosmetically to look like us--well, speaking from my view, since I fit the description--a Western, white girl, that is. But, whatever. People should do what they want. Well, not just whatever they want, but I mean that they should do as they please in regard to how they want to look to be happy. I personally think ulzzang are adorable. I love them, lol!~ xoxo, Emily XD ~~<3~~~

  • Cassettes

    おはよう!

Good morning, everyone! I haven't blogged in a while and for that I am very sorry! I have been busy with classes and only recently have I been able to take a break from the homework being tossed at me. For the last few days I have done very little homework (for there was very little do) and have watched a few more episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which is quite addicting).

Lately, I have been on a 80's and 90's popular music kick. Due to my (newish) car having a cassette player, I have decided to start collecting some cassette tapes to listen to of music I would rather not drop 100 + dollars on about 5 or more CDs. Instead of dropping 10 dollars for 12 songs, I will be dropping $1.00 or less per CD (or like, 12 songs). This not only gives me more music, it will also give me things to hunt for. Cassettes are sold in various resale, thrift stores for very little money, usually just some pocket change. Due to this I will have a new hobby, a new collection, and something fun to do on those "off" days. It's like a scavenger hunt!

Here are some music groups I will be looking for...
    Atomic Kitten
Now & Then (soundtrack to the movie)
    Backstreet Boys
    Everclear
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Hanson
    U2
    Procliamers
    Soul Asylum
    Alanis Morissette
    Nirvana
    4 Non Blondes
    L.E.N.
    Everything but the Girl
    Sugar Ray
Now (That's What I Call Music)
    P!nk
    Air Supply
    Phil Collins
    A-Ha
    Eurythmics
    Starship
    Yes
    Cutting Crew
    Wang Chung
    Joan Jet
    The Psychedelic Furs
